If you need a car repair, here are some tips and advice from the Good Garage Scheme.
Do your research
- Have a look on the internet for similar problems and possible causes and costs for repairs
- Look on the Good Garage Scheme website and search for a garage nearest to you that specialises in the make of your car
- Contact your local Good Garage Scheme member garage and ask if they can advise on cost if possible
- A diagnosis is not always possible over the phone, but you can find out if there are any costs involved in the investigation of the repair.
Once your car is booked for the repair
- Find out how long it will take and if a courtesy car is available
- Offer your best contact number and ask to be kept updated during the repair
Ask to see any replaced parts
A Good Garage Scheme member will always have replaced parts available to show you if requested, and you are within your rights to ask. It is part of the Good Garage Scheme Code of Conduct
